| Abstract | Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho e analisar a producao cientifica na area de Sensoriamento Remoto e seu impacto sobre a comunidade cientifica brasileira. Foi adotada uma abordagem historica atraves do estabelecimento de relacao entre as principais fases de desenvolvimento do sensoriamento remoto no Brasil e as principais linhas de pesquisa adotadas pelo Departamento de Sensoriamento Remoto. Concluiu-se que o Projeto Sensores Remotos sofreu mudancas em seus objetivos ao longo de sua historia. A falta de recursos humanos na area pode ser considerada como a principal razao para explicar a baixa producao cientifica. Enquanto em outras areas de atuacao do INPE pesquisadores foram enviados para receber treinamento em paises desenvolvidos, na area de Sensoriamento Remoto isto nao ocorreu. Abstract This study and analyze the scientific production in the area of remote sensing and its impact on the Brazilian scientific community. One historic approach through the establishment of relationship between the main phases of development of remote sensing in Brazil and the main lines of research adopted by the Department of Remote Sensing was adopted. It was concluded that the Remote Sensing Project has undergone changes in its objectives throughout its history. The lack of human resources in the area can be considered as the main reason to explain the low scientific production. While in other practice areas INPE researchers were sent for training in developed countries, the Remote Sensing area that did not occur. | ||||||
